Padel 101: Essential Techniques to Start Winning Points
Build a strong foundation with the serve, lob, volley, bandeja, and wall rebounds. These are the core shots that define padel.
Serve and Return
Keep the serve low and deep to avoid easy attacks. On return, use a compact swing and aim for the back glass to buy time.
The Lob
The lob is the most important shot in padel. A high, deep lob lets you take the net and reset the point.
Controlled Volleys
Volleys are about placement, not power. Use a short punch and aim for the side glass or the opponent's feet.
Bandeja and Vibora
These overhead shots keep you at the net. The bandeja is a defensive overhead with control, while the vibora adds slice and speed.
Wall Rebounds
Let the ball come to you after the bounce, then play it with a compact swing. Wall control is the fastest way to improve.
