Padel Equipment Maintenance: Make Your Gear Last Longer
Protect your investment with proper care. Learn how to maintain your racket, shoes, and accessories for maximum lifespan and performance.
Racket Care
A quality padel racket is a significant investment. With proper care, you can extend its lifespan and maintain peak performance.
Storage
- Use a padded cover - Protects against bumps and temperature extremes
- Avoid car trunks - Heat damages the core and can warp the frame
- Store at room temperature - Extreme cold can make carbon brittle
- Keep away from moisture - Humidity can affect grip and frame adhesives
Cleaning
- Wipe the face with a damp cloth after play
- Clean the grip area to remove salt from sweat
- Use rubbing alcohol for stubborn ball marks
- Never submerge your racket in water
Frame Protection
Apply protector tape to the frame edge immediately after purchase. This prevents damage from wall and floor contact - the most common cause of racket death.
Overgrip Replacement
Replace your overgrip every 15-20 hours of play, or whenever it feels slippery. A worn grip leads to over-gripping, which causes arm fatigue and loss of control.
Shoe Maintenance
- Air them out after every session to prevent odor buildup
- Rotate pairs if you play frequently - allows cushioning to recover
- Clean outsoles to remove debris that reduces grip
- Replace insoles when cushioning feels flat
Ball Care
Pressurized balls lose bounce over time. For practice, invest in a ball pressurizer to extend their life. Store unused balls in their sealed container until needed.
