Advanced Padel Techniques: Master These 7 Winning Shots
Take your padel game to the next level with these advanced techniques. Learn the vibora, chiquita, bajada, and more from professional coaches.
Beyond the Basics
Once you've mastered the fundamentals, it's time to add advanced weapons to your arsenal. These shots separate intermediate players from advanced competitors.
1. The Vibora
The vibora is an aggressive overhead shot with heavy slice. Unlike the bandeja, it's meant to win the point outright.
- When to use it: High balls that sit up in your hitting zone
- Technique: Slice aggressively with wrist snap at contact
- Target: Side glass at sharp angles or directly at opponent's feet
2. The Chiquita
A soft, low shot played from the baseline that forces opponents to hit up, giving you time to take the net.
- When to use it: When opponents are at the net and you're stuck at the back
- Technique: Open racket face, soft hands, brush under the ball
- Target: Land the ball at their feet near the net
3. The Bajada
Playing the ball after it comes off the back glass. Essential for defensive play and extending rallies.
- Key: Let the ball come to you; don't rush it
- Footwork: Side-step away from the wall to create space
- Options: Lob, drive, or chiquita depending on opponent position
4. The Par 3
An exit shot where the ball bounces off the side glass, then the back glass before you hit it.
5. The Globo Atacado
An aggressive lob hit with topspin that dips quickly after clearing the net player.
6. The Dejada
A soft drop shot that barely clears the net - perfect when opponents are deep.
7. The Remate por 3
A powerful smash aimed at the side glass that bounces out of the court - the ultimate point winner.
Practice Drills
These shots require thousands of repetitions to master. Work with a coach or hitting partner to groove these techniques into your muscle memory.
